MSC Cruises has officially begun construction on its fourth World-class ship, the MSC World Atlantic, marking the milestone by cutting the first piece of steel.
The cruise line has announced that the ship will homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida, starting with the winter 2027-2028 season, offering Caribbean itineraries.
The announcement comes as MSC prepares for the launch of its second World-class ship, MSC World America, which will be christened in Miami on April 9 at the brand’s new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal. The World America is set to begin sailings from Miami next month.
MSC Cruises names its World-class ships after continents and oceans, but the names do not necessarily indicate where the ships will operate.
In keeping with this tradition, the company also held a coin-laying ceremony for the MSC World Asia at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The MSC World Asia is scheduled to enter service in the winter 2026-2027 season, sailing Mediterranean routes that include France, Italy, Spain, and Malta.
MSC Cruises continues to expand its fleet with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability, further solidifying its presence in key markets such as North America and Europe.
