Keel Laid for Regent’s New Ship, Seven Seas Prestige

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has marked a significant step in the construction of their upcoming vessel, Seven Seas Prestige, with a traditional keel-laying ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. The event, attended by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings president Harry Sommer, celebrated what the cruise line describes as “a key moment” in the creation of their next-generation luxury ship, designed to “redefine luxury travel.”

In keeping with maritime custom, three coins were welded onto the ship’s keel, a symbolic gesture intended to bring good fortune to all who will sail aboard. Seven Seas Prestige, weighing 77,000 tonnes and accommodating 850 passengers, will be the inaugural ship of Regent’s first new class in a decade.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises emphasises that the vessel will boast one of the industry’s highest passenger-to-space ratios, ensuring an exceptionally spacious and luxurious experience for its guests. The ship will introduce innovative accommodation categories, including a reimagined Regent Suite, alongside new and enhanced dining experiences. The anticipated delivery of Seven Seas Prestige is scheduled for 2026.

“Seven Seas Prestige represents our continued legacy of elevating the standard of ultra-luxury travel, and we are proud to cement our place as leaders in the industry with this exciting milestone,” stated Jason Montague, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ chief luxury officer.

Luigi Matarazzo, general manager of Fincantieri’s merchant ships division, highlighted the shared dedication to excellence between the shipyard and the cruise line. “Expertise, passion, and dedication to perfection are shared values between Regent and Fincantieri, and there is no one better placed to bring Seven Seas Prestige to life as we usher in a new age of excellence for Regent Seven Seas Cruises,” he said.

Matarazzo further added, “The keel laying for Seven Seas Prestige marks an important milestone not only for Regent and Fincantieri, but for the entire industry, as we continue to elevate the standards of ultra-luxury cruising.”
