Hurtigruten has announced a series of short break expedition cruises from the UK in September.
Sailing at a reduced capacity of just 350 passengers, Roald Amundsen will offer eager travellers keen to set sail again, the chance to explore hidden gems of the British Isles on 6-day itineraries departing from Portsmouth, Liverpool and Greenock. Alternatively, guests looking for a longer duration can combine sailings to create a 10 or 20 day expedition.
The world’s first hybrid expedition cruise ship will be the first cruise ship to depart from the UK with guests since the country entered lockdown in March.
We will take guests to lesser-visited parts of the British Isles, and take them up close to nature, and conservation projects. This is a great opportunity for those looking to try expedition cruising for the first time, but from closer to home. Having operated in Norway throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, and having recently restarting regular operations in Norway, our robust health and safety procedures on and off board mean guests can relax and enjoy their UK short break.
Anthony Daniels, UK General Manager, Hurtigruten
Some of the destinations the ship will be sailing to include the Isles of Scilly, Fishguard, Fort William, Rathlin Island, Oban, and Waterford.
The ship will be operated at a reduced capacity, carrying no more than 350 passenger – 65% of total berths. Social distancing measures and strict sanitation procedures will be in place. Guests will need to submit a medical form before embarking and temperature checks will be carried out.
