Top 7 Ships For Teenagers According To A Teen

Cruise ships are great for family holidays and most ships have amazing venues and entertainment onboard that appeals to all ages from 8 to 88! We asked teen cruiser, and one of the youngest travel bloggers, Lewis Nunn to share his top seven ships recommended for teenagers.

For some reason people think us teens are hard to please…absolute rubbish! Give us non-stop food and drink, games to play and lots of mates to hang with and we are happy. That’s why a cruise is a great way for us to have a fabulous holiday!
Cruise lines know what we want and that is why they offer clubs for us on their ships, discos, lounges and some have private teen-only sun decks and excursions. You can snack all day (and all night!) in the buffet if you want and escape the family too.

As the “KroozKid” I am always asked which is my favourite cruise ship and it’s a really tough question to answer…it’s like being asked who is your favourite child! There are quite a few ships that I can recommend for people my age, but there are others that although I suspect would be fabulous I haven’t had the chance to go on yet…so I can’t be certain! However, as my good friend Jordan has asked me to narrow it down to my favourites, here is my shortlist of seven ships to sail on.

1. Carnival Vista

This new flagship for Carnival has only just launched with super-cool water parks, peddle Skyride racing track and the first IMAX cinema at sea! Club 02 is where you can watch movies, listen to music, play sports and video games, join karaoke jam sessions or even have a pool party or two!

2. Harmony of the Seas

The other new ship on the seas is Royal Caribbean International’s monster Harmony of the Seas. Only launched this May, she is packed with fun activities including a zip line high above the deck, 3 multi-level water slides, called The Perfect Storm, which twist and turn above Central Park, a park at sea! The 10-deck high dry slide called The Ultimate Abyss, drops riders some 100 feet…not for yellow cowards! There’s also a Flowrider surf machine, rock climbing wall and even a mini-golf course!

3. Norwegian Escape

No rules here…it’s “freestyle cruising” with food and fun always available along with a 3-deck sports complex with a rope course, rock climbing wall, basketball court and mini-golf. I will be hanging out in Entourage, which has self-serve food and drink stations, PlayStation consoles, air-hockey, pinball, foosball and at night transforms into a disco!

4. Quantum of the Seas

Quantum of the Seas is another fabulous Royal Caribbean ship which hosts sky-diving at sea, mocktails at Bionic Bar made by robots, plus bumper cars, an Xbox area and roller-skating in the indoor SeaPlex sports arena.

5. Royal Princess

Named by Kate Middleton in 2013, Royal Princess has two pools, Movies Under the Stars (on a giant screen by the pool) with free popcorn and blankets, as well as a water and light show every night on the pool deck. Other cool stuff includes a batting cage and a laser shooting range, “mocktail” parties (I LOVE the sound of this!) and formal dinners just for us. The teen area, Remix, has an outdoor lounge with a teens-only wading pool, outdoor seating and space for open-sky parties.

6. Thomson Majesty

A cheap and cheerful, mostly British, fun ship with up-for-it crew and better-than-average entertainment like the post-dinner sing along in the main, Seven Seas Restaurant and singing, dancing and stage productions!

7. MSC Splendida

This was the first ship that I sailed on, so it has a special place for me. I loved the fact you could just waltz into the buffet wether it be 5:00pm or 5:am! And stuff your face of course….which I certainly did!
