Splendour of the Seas arrived in Venice today, marking the end of not just a cruise, but also its time sailing with Royal Caribbean International.
Launched in 1996, the 866 ft Splendour of the Seas has come to the end of its operation with Royal Caribbean, 20 year after its maiden voyage in March 1996.
The ship will enter drydock, where it will receive various enhancements, before emerging as Thomson’s TUI Discovery.
The ship departed Dubai on April 4, on a 16-night Suez Canal cruise to Venice. TUI Discovery will enter service with Thomson Cruises from June 2016, offering cruises from Palma De Mallorca.
Crew members have been posting their farewell messages on a dedicated Facebook page called Splendour – Farewell to Remember 2016.
