The MS Hamburg has been forced to divert to Southampton after an object, believed to be a fishing net, became stuck around the ships propeller system.
The incident occurred as the ship, which is owned by German based Plantour Cruises, was sailing along the Kent Coast, near Margate.
The ship began to divert to the Thames Estuary, however diving teams, would not be able to inspect the propellers. The ship was then directed to head to Southampton, where appropriate inspections can take place.
The ship is currently en-route to the Hampshire port, at a reduced speed, with an estimated arrival time of 9pm tonight. The ship will dock at the Queen Elizabeth II terminal overnight, while repairs are made and the ship is scheduled to depart at 10pm on Thursday 7th May.
