An electrical fire has broke out aboard AIDAprima with fears the delivery of the ship could face a further setback.
The electrical fire broke out in a compartment onboard AIDA Cruises’ newbuild, triggering the fire alarm to go off at 8:30 p.m. The ship was immediately evacuated.
The shipyard’s fire brigade and local authorities were able to contain the fire and no injuries were reported.
The delivery of the 125,000 gt ship, being built at the Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki, is over a year behind schedule after several setbacks. AIDAprima was due to launch in April 2016, but it is still unknown if this latest setback will affect the delivery date.
