Dead Whale Found On Bow Of Holland America Cruise Ship

A dead whale has been found resting on the bulbous bow of Holland America Line’s ms Zaandam on Sunday morning around 5 a.m. as the ship arrived in Seward, Alaska.

The fin whale, which is an endangered species, was found dead. According to Seward City News, a necropsy will be carried out to determine if the whale died as a result of being hit by Zaandam’s bulbous bow or if the fin whale was already dead in the water.

The Holland America Line ship was concluding a seven-night sailing from Vancouver to Seward. The incident is believed to have happened as the ship was travelling between Glacier Bay and Seward.
