Construction Starts On New AIDA Cruise Ship

Construction has started on AIDA’s new LNG-fuelled cruise ship at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg.

The 180,000 GT Helios-class ship will be the lines largest ship to date, when it launches in December 2018. A second ship is also scheduled to launch in 2021.

The ship will be based in the Canary Islands, operating 7-night cruises from Gran Canaria, visiting Madeira, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote.

Running on 100% Liquified Natural Gas, the ship will be the cleanest cruise ship to ever sail.

The new Helios-class ship will be an evolution of AIDAprima and AIDAperla, featuring several popular features, fleet-wide favourites, as well as new innovative concepts.

The new ship will feature 2,500 cabins, including dedicated family cabins, single cabins, and luxury Penthouse suites.

The ship will have 23 bars, and 15 restaurants offering delicious cuisine from all around the world.
