Celebrity Cruises has announced further details about its new Edge-class ships, Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Beyond.
Staterooms have been designed by UK interior designer, Kelly Hoppen and will average 25 square metres. The ship will have 918 Edge Staterooms with an ‘Infinite Veranda’ and for the first time, Celebrity Cruises will offer sixteen single staterooms with infinite verandas.
A revolutionary concept on Celebrity Edge will be the Magic Carpet. The use of the open-air platform will transform depending on which deck the platform is on. On Deck 16, Magic Carpet will be an intimate speciality restaurant for 90 guests. It will become an extension of the Resort Deck on Deck 14. Deck 5 will see the Magic Carpet transform into an extension of another speciality restaurant. Deck 2 will see the Magic Carpet become a luxury embarkation platform for guests to embark sleek ‘Edge Launches’ – which guests will use instead of traditional lifeboat tenders.
The Rooftop Garden will be an area of relaxation, tended daily by a resident horticulturist. It will also be home to movie screenings, and entertainment in the evening.
“Celebrity Edge is one of the most exciting, innovative and transformational ships I have ever been involved with,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “The new features and refined design will establish a new baseline for ships from here on out.”
Celebrity Edge will begin sailing from Fort Lauderdale in December 2018, offering Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises. Eastern Caribbean cruises will visit San Juan, Tortola, and St Maarten. Western Caribbean cruises will sail to Key West, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman.
Itineraries on the new Celebrity Edge are now on sale.
